Elena Villa is an artisan specializing in botanical dyeing of natural fibre yarns. She grows dye plants traditionally used in Umbria and Tuscany during the Middle Ages and Renaissance, and gathers wild plants found in the local countryside.
For centuries, dyeing and wool production played an important role in the economies of Umbria and Tuscany. Through her work, Elena aims to bring these ancient traditions back to life, sharing them with locals and visitors through both handcrafted products and cultural experiences.
Alongside her artisan production, Elena teaches natural dyeing and spinning through courses and hands-on workshops. Drawing on her background in medieval studies, she also brings traditional textile crafts to life through demonstrations and historical reenactments.
Her workshop is a welcoming space where visitors can discover and purchase her handmade creations, while also exploring the traditional techniques of botanical dyeing and spinning through courses, workshops and educational activities
